Serpentine Streets and Sacred Peaks: A Visual Journey
Making my way towards Vernon, BC put me down some breathtaking, windy mountain roads. During my university years, I spent summers out west working in forestry, and a lot of these roads were my stomping grounds of my youth. It's amazing how much memory these roads hold. So many stories unfolded within these mountainous turns, over the years. Kilometers spanning years and took me from my twenties into the woman of today.
These little memories percolating throughout this trip, adding these glorious layers to this project, and help to remind me how Canada is so ingrained in who I am. And with every turn exposing yet another spectacular view, my current course is bound to take longer than I can afford at this time, if I keep stopping at every turn.
I pull over as the sun is setting over an idyllic lake in the mountains, to enjoy a small moment of gratitude, and am reminded how fortunate I am to live in this country.
The photos will have to suffice until I can spare a minute to sketch...
